Night Lights.

This is a gallery of photographs taken at night in London. I used a mobile phone camera to capture movement of traffic at night. The photographs were taken whilst I walked home from work, without stopping to emphasize the blurred effect of movement. During our days we process billions of images, all of them fluid. Most are instantly processed and discarded by our mind. These photographs try to convey the effect of different bodies moving simultaneously - the pedestrian and the vehicle, both of them travelling in opposite directions and unconnected. The meeting is random and fleeting; the pedestrian sees a spark or ribbon of light and their mind instantly discards the image as part of the background scene.

The different lights of cars, buildings, buses or cyclists create different sparks like scratches on a dark canvass, but leave no image just as the mind will recall the lights of the city at night but will not remember each car or bus that passes. Even the buildings are often hidden by their own images.
