Tiana
Tiana is a small Catalan village located in the hills just outside Barcelona. It is a quiet village and has become a popular get away destination for well-off Barcelona residents looking for a weekend retreat.
I know Tiana better than most as I spent my childhood summer holidays in the village. This is a gallery of some photographs I took of the village and of Can Puch Carbo during my last visit this year.
Can Puch Carbo (literally the house of Puch Carbo) was built in 1850 for a Sr Puch Carbo and was later rented to my family following a tragedy. Legend has it that Sr Puch Carbo remarried and his children, afraid that they would lose their inheritance, took it upon themselves to welcome their stepmother into the family by burying her alive.
Fortunately for her she was rescued but she, quite reasonably, refused to live in the house any longer. The house was then rented to my great-great-grandparents who had just arrived in Spain from Santiago de Chile and they eventually bought the property which came with a substantial amount of land.
The house is now old and decayed and most of the land sold off but it still retains an air of former grandeur and holds many happy memories for me. It eventually passed to my Great Aunt and her family who spend the holidays there, as they have always done.
